Current treatment involves the use of various skin substitutes which are able to improve wound healing in the short term but have limited long-term success due to the lack of blood vessels to deliver enough oxygen and nutrients.

Angioblast plans to develop an MPC product on a biocompatible patch which will be the only product in the market capable of providing both increased blood supply and new cells to repair and regenerate the wound site.
